Multiverse Computing, a company based at the Basque Country Technology Park,Spain — a member of both IASP and APTE — has announced a €500 million ($570 million) Series C funding round, achieving a €1.5 billion pre-money valuation and marking the company’s arrival as one of Europe’s newest unicorns.
The round, a fivefold step-up from the company’s Series B, was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International, BNPP Solar Impulse Venture Fund, and Bullhound Capital, with additional commitments from Santander Alternative Investments, HP, Tikehau Capital, Orange Ventures, Scania Invest, Qatar Development Bank, and the Basque Government’s own Hazten Scale-Up Fund, among others.
At the heart of Multiverse’s platform is CompactifAI, a compression technology that applies tensor networks — a mathematical framework drawn from quantum physics — to reduce the size of large language models by up to 80–95% with minimal accuracy loss. The result is AI that can run efficiently on everyday devices, from smartphones to sovereign data centres, rather than depending on costly cloud infrastructure.
“The AI industry has accepted a false constraint for years — that powerful models require expensive infrastructure,” said Enrique Lizaso, co-founder and CEO of Multiverse Computing. “That constraint is gone.”
Multiverse’s models are already deployed across millions of devices and systems, including drones, cameras, satellites, vehicles, and telecom infrastructure, with wider integration into AI-enabled PCs planned. The company’s customer and partner base spans manufacturing, finance, energy, aerospace, cybersecurity, defence, and life sciences, including Allianz, Bosch, the Bank of Canada, Iberdrola, Indra, PwC, and Telefónica.
Proceeds from the round will fund the expansion of Multiverse’s model library, continued R&D into proprietary compression algorithms, strategic investment in sovereign AI infrastructure, and the company’s international growth across East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Canada, and the United States.
The milestone reflects the strength of the innovation ecosystem cultivated at the Basque Country Technology Park, and highlights the growing role parks belonging to both IASP and APTE play in nurturing globally competitive deep-tech ventures.
